Introducing Dougal Tavener
Based in Chamonix, Dougal Tavener is a mountain guide, alpinist and lifelong athlete whose life revolves around the pursuit of adventure in the high mountains. From major expeditions in Nepal to technical alpine routes and demanding ski descents, he has built a reputation for moving confidently through challenging terrain across the globe.
Growing up in North Wales, the outdoors was part of everyday life. Inspired by the mountains on his doorstep and a steady diet of mountaineering stories and climbing culture, he developed an early passion for exploration that has grown into a career spent seeking out new challenges in remote and committing environments.
The motivation is simple. For Dougal, it's about being in wild places, embracing uncertainty and discovering what's possible when preparation, experience and determination come together. It's this mindset that continues to drive his progression, both as an athlete and as a guide, wherever the next objective may lead.

Key Achievements
Sport Climbing: Elite-level ascents with redpoints to 8c (5.14b) and onsights to 8a (5.13b).
Traditional Climbing: Strong UK onsight record up to E7.
Big Wall & Alpine: Extensive experience on hard Grand Courses in the Alps, recently underscored by an impressive onsight of the 15-pitch 7c+ (ED) route "L'Or du Temps" on Grand Capucin.
